Hiking Poles

Hiking poles or trekking poles can assist in your safety and take some of the pressure off your knees. I also use them when on snowshoe hikes.
What to look for when purchasing hiking poles:
- Adjustable length – you want telescoping poles for easy transportation to the trailhead and to carry on pack or in hand when not in use.
- Handles – made from a variety of materials including cork. Some are curved to a better hold. All include a wrist strap.
- Construction – lightweight and strong
- Anti shock – this helps reduce pressure on your knees
- Tip – made from a variety of materials and can be useful on certain types of terrain. Usually comes with rubber covers for when not in use
- Disk – for use when snowshoeing
As some are sold individually make sure you are getting one pair. There are a variety of hiking poles listed below, click on the links to check them out.
